EMTM Student Life

The EMTM program demands a high level of commitment, but the rewards are equally great. Strong professional and personal bonds develop among students who are meeting the challenge of managing full-time workloads, family lives and study.

EMTM students stay on campus in Philadelphia on Thursday and Friday evenings during program weekends. Each student has a private guest room at a campus-based hotel, and housing is included in the program fees (see Housing and Travel). This concentrated time on campus allows you to focus on class work and other program opportunities (see Beyond the Classroom), and puts the resources you need at your fingertips for group study and teamwork.

Each weekend is full (see Sample Weekend), but students find time to socialize informally during meals, in the evenings or after program events. Many EMTM students invite their spouses, partners or families to join them for an occasional weekend stay. And whether you're commuting from the suburbs of Philadelphia, from Washington, DC, or from across the country, the Penn campus and Philadelphia offer a wide array of resources, restaurants and points of interest.

The Executive Education Society (EES), EMTM's student organization, works to develop opportunities for networking among students, faculty, alumni and leaders in technology and business. In addition to the Executive Speaker Series, they help organize professional interest groups on specific topics, informal get-togethers for students, and other events for students, families and guests.

“EMTM's weekend format makes it more personal, focused and rigorous. … The students in EMTM are thirsty for knowledge — it's more than just a piece of paper to them. I've never been around so many smart people in my life.”
