Message from the Director, October 2009
The last several months have been particularly busy ones for EMTM. On May 22, we held the second of four celebrations
in commemoration of the program’s 20th Anniversary. The theme for our Anniversary Series is “Future Space:
The Intersection between Technology and Social Science.” The turnout was great, the speakers superb and the
camaraderie fabulous. Several articles in this issue of InSITE capture the spirit of the day.
We also completed the
2008-2009 recruiting cycle. Despite the economic challenges, we enrolled an excellent class of 52, which first arrived
on campus for Orientation from August 19-22. Some background on the incoming class is
included in this issue of InSITE.
This year, we are introducing an additional set of technology electives in the area of Energy and the Environment. More
information will be forthcoming in the Winter issue of InSITE. We hosted our
third 20th Anniversary event
on October 2 featuring Micheael Kearns and
Kaihan Krippendorff.

We hope that you will join us for one of our upcoming activities.
We at EMTM take pride in the accomplishments made during the first 20 years of the program and look forward to continuing to
offer our students the tools to align business strategy with smart technology and management decisions... in a high-speed,
high-cost, high-risk business environment.
Best wishes,
