The notion of social networks, a construct of modern sociology theory, has been put on steroids by its integration with web-based technologies. The shape, openness and power of social networks are being harnessed by community organizers, corporations (for both internal and external benefits), political parties and others. Join us for this fascinating event and gain some new insights about how leadership drives the influence of social networks and to appreciate their business applications.
Speed Networking
Continuing our examination of Social Networks, what better network to explore than the EMTM Network? Registered
attendees who wish to participate will meet at least 12 other alumni for six minutes each on a predetermined schedule.
What makes this event particularly effective is that the networking is based on the attendees’ stated preferences:
Participants indicate the professions of EMTM students and alumni that they want to meet, with the option of
identifying those whom they would rather not meet. Attendees will receive a personalized schedule at the door.
Keynote: The Art of Innovation with Guy Kawasaki
You may know Guy Kawasaki from his reputation as a technology visionary, champion of innovation and prominent evangelist
for the Apple Macintosh. Guy is currently a managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, an early-stage venture
capital firm and a columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine. Previously, he was an Apple Fellow at Apple Computer, Inc.
Guy is the author of nine books, including Reality Check, The Art of the Start, Rules for Revolutionaries,
How to Drive Your Competition Crazy, Selling the Dream, and The Macintosh Way. He has a BA from
Stanford University and an MBA from UCLA, as well as an honorary doctorate from Babson College.
Early-bird registration for students and alumni is available until April 24. Thereafter, the event will be open to the general public. Click here for information on registration and fees.
Finally, mark your calendars for the evening of October 2, 2009 and the afternoon and evening of May 21, 2010 for future symposia. We hope you will be able to join us for at some of these exciting events!
Best regards,
Dwight L. Jaggard
