Sponsor's Role
EMTM sponsors are asked to endorse their candidates' applications, and to confirm that the student will be able to attend classes and participate fully in EMTM. Many organizations also provide financial support.
-
Letter of endorsement. A letter of employer endorsement is required for applicants planning to attend full-time (Friday and Saturday on alternate weekends), and requested for all applicants. This letter should confirm that the candidate's company and supervising manager support the individual's application and will grant the time away from work needed to attend classes and complete program requirements.
-
Financial support. Financial support is encouraged, but not required. Sponsoring organizations may cover all or part of the cost of the program through tuition-reimbursement programs or other compensation arrangements made directly with their sponsored candidate.
How Sponsors Maximize EMTM Benefits
To gain the greatest advantages of sponsorship, EMTM should be part of a broader development plan preparing that candidate to take on new or expanded leadership roles for the organization. While each organization and sponsor relationship is unique, recent sponsors and EMTM students have collaborated to maximize the benefits of EMTM for their organizations by:
-
Identifying new areas of responsibility that will take advantage of EMTM learning and leadership skills during and after the program.
-
Consulting on elective course selections that will tailor the student's curriculum to build key technology or business strengths.
-
Building regular feedback loops, either formal or informal, so that new insights, tools and practices can be shared with reports and peers.
-
Identifying projects or issues related to the organization or unit that can be evaluated in EMTM assignments. Participating in EMTM can create the opportunity to focus on strategic issues that might otherwise not receive the same level of attention.
Potential sponsors who would like to discuss questions related to sponsorship with an EMTM Co-Director are welcome to contact us to schedule a call or meeting. (EMTM phone: 215-898-2897.)

“Sponsorship allows you to extract immediate value from the training and direct the trajectory of the person through the program. You become a stakeholder in what types of skills they'll be learning and in selecting class projects that provide an immediate business benefit.”
